LHS FIT & MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Base Size & Mold Guide

Choose the right measurement path, record the maximum coverage dimensions, and prepare a clean mold reference for professional confirmation by LHS.

CHOOSE THE FIT PATH

Three ways to begin

The correct path depends on whether an available base size already covers the area, whether custom dimensions are enough, or whether the perimeter shape needs a full mold.

INTERACTIVE SIZE PLANNER

Plan the coverage dimensions

This preview is a planning aid—not a production template. LHS must confirm the final shape, curvature, and measurements before manufacturing.

Measure the coverage area—not the full head. Keep the tape flat, level, and comfortably placed without compressing the scalp.

MEASUREMENT WORKFLOW

Record the coverage area clearly

01

Define the boundary

Identify the area the system must cover. Mark a balanced front hairline and the rear and side limits before measuring.

02

Measure maximum length

Measure from the center-front boundary to the center-back boundary along the scalp contour.

03

Measure maximum width

Measure the widest point from side to side across the coverage area, keeping the tape level and flat.

04

Repeat and photograph

Repeat each measurement, write the unit clearly, and photograph the marked area from the top, front, and both sides.

CUSTOM MOLD WORKFLOW

Create a clear shape reference

A mold communicates the perimeter, curvature, front position, and orientation more clearly than dimensions alone. It still requires professional review before production.

Safety firstKeep the face, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and neck completely unobstructed. Do not cut the mold while it is on the head. Stop immediately if there is discomfort.
  1. 01
    Prepare the area

Keep the scalp clean and dry, flatten existing hair, and define the intended coverage boundary.

  2. 02
    Form a stable shell

Use an appropriate mold method and enough crossing layers to hold the head contour without collapsing or folding.

  3. 03
    Draw the perimeter

Mark the final front, sides, and back boundaries clearly with a permanent contrasting marker.

  4. 04
    Add orientation marks

Label FRONT, BACK, LEFT, RIGHT, center line, desired parting, hair direction, and any lace or poly zones.

  5. 05
    Remove, verify, and photograph

Remove the mold carefully, confirm that it keeps its shape, and photograph the top and all four sides before submission.

MARK THE MOLD

Information LHS should be able to read

  • FRONT / BACK / LEFT / RIGHT
  • Center line and preferred parting
  • Final hairline and perimeter
  • Hair direction arrows
  • Lace, poly, binding, or reinforced zones
  • Client name and date

COMMON ERRORS

Avoid these before submission

Measuring the full head

Base dimensions should describe the intended coverage area, not the complete head circumference.

An uneven or unrealistic hairline

Confirm height and symmetry from the front before finalizing the outline.

Missing orientation labels

A mold without FRONT, BACK, and center-line markings can be interpreted incorrectly.

A soft, folded, or distorted mold

The reference must retain the scalp contour. Reinforce it before removal and protect it during transport.
